Our current Privacy Policy explains how KSM Driving Tuition uses personal information, your data protection rights and how to contact us. Our Cookie Policy explains website technologies and lets you review your consent choices.
The tuition terms, referral conditions and safeguarding policy are set out below.
A deposit of £200 is required to secure your intensive course. This consists of:
– £200 (deducted from the cost of your course – non-refundable as this secures the instructor’s time for your chosen week).
By paying the deposit, you agree to these terms and conditions.
The remaining course balance must be paid no later than 7 days before your course start date. If payment is not received on time, your course will be forfeited and the deposit will not be refunded.
– The £200 course element of the deposit is strictly non-refundable.
– If you cancel within 14 days of your course start date, all fees paid will be forfeited.
You must attend all lessons at the agreed times. Failure to attend, or lateness of more than 15 minutes, may result in the lesson time being lost without refund. When you are with an instructor, you are paying for their time. Breaks are included within the scheduled time and will not extend or delay the session. Rescheduling of lessons is subject to instructor availability and cannot be guaranteed.
You must hold a valid UK provisional driving licence and present it at the start of your course. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet DVSA eyesight and medical requirements. Lessons will be refused if you cannot present your licence or are unfit to drive, and no refund will be given.
While every effort will be made to secure a suitable driving test, KSM Driving Tuition cannot guarantee DVSA test
availability. The instructor reserves the right to withhold the training vehicle for the test if, in their professional opinion, you are
not at a safe standard to drive independently. The cost of additional tests due to cancellation or failure remains the pupil’s responsibility.
The instructor may adjust lesson structure depending on progress. Unsafe, abusive, or inappropriate behaviour may result in immediate termination of the course without refund.
KSM Driving Tuition is not responsible for DVSA cancellations, adverse weather, or events outside our control.
No compensation will be offered for loss of fees in such circumstances.

Safeguarding Children, Young People and Adults at Risk Policy
Policy owner KSM Driving Tuition
Effective date 10th August 2026
Review date 10th August 2027
KSM Driving Tuition is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk who use our services. This policy explains how safeguarding concerns will be recognised, responded to, recorded and reported. The welfare and safety of the person at risk is the primary consideration.
This policy applies to KSM Driving Tuition instructors, employees, contractors, trainees and anyone acting on behalf of the business. It covers lessons, assessments, communications, collection/drop-off arrangements, online contact and any other activity connected with KSM Driving Tuition.
KSM Driving Tuition will:
• treat everyone with dignity and respect;
• take concerns, disclosures and allegations seriously;
• act in the best interests of children and adults at risk;
• maintain appropriate professional boundaries;
• share safeguarding information only with those who need it for protection or legal purposes;
• never investigate an allegation ourselves where this could compromise a safeguarding investigation; and
• follow relevant UK safeguarding law, statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures.
Safeguarding concerns may include physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, neglect, domestic abuse, financial or material abuse, discriminatory abuse, organisational abuse, modern slavery, exploitation, coercive or controlling behaviour, online abuse and self-neglect. Indicators may include unexplained injuries, sudden changes in behaviour, fearfulness, inappropriate sexualised behaviour, poor hygiene, hunger, repeated absence, concerning messages, controlling relationships or a direct disclosure.
If a pupil or other person discloses abuse, or an instructor observes something concerning, the instructor should:
• remain calm and listen;
• allow the person to speak in their own words;
• take what they say seriously;
• avoid leading questions, confrontation or promises of secrecy;
• explain that information may need to be shared to help keep them safe;
• make an accurate written record as soon as possible, distinguishing facts from opinions; and
• report the concern promptly to the Safeguarding Lead.
If someone is in immediate danger or requires urgent medical attention, call 999. Concerns about a child may need to be referred to the relevant local authority children’s social care service and/or police. Concerns about an adult at risk may need to be referred to the relevant local authority adult safeguarding service and/or police.
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Kylie Oliver (Eames)
Telephone: 07880 804613
Email: Kylie@ksmdrivingtuition.co.uk
If the concern relates to the DSL/business owner, the matter should not be handled by that person. Appropriate external safeguarding advice or referral should be sought without delay.
Instructors must maintain clear, professional relationships with pupils. They must not use sexualised, intimidating, humiliating, discriminatory or threatening language or behaviour. Physical contact should only occur when necessary, appropriate and proportionate, for example to prevent an immediate safety risk. Communication with pupils should be professional and related to driving tuition. Instructors should avoid inappropriate private contact, gifts, favouritism or relationships that could exploit a position of trust.
Where a pupil is under 18, instructors should take particular care with safeguarding, communication and collection/drop-off arrangements. Parents or guardians should normally be provided with appropriate business and lesson information, while recognising that safeguarding information may sometimes need to be shared directly with statutory services rather than with a parent or guardian where doing so could increase risk.
KSM Driving Tuition will only take and publish identifiable photographs or videos of pupils where there is an appropriate lawful basis and the pupil’s privacy and safeguarding have been considered. As KSM’s safeguarding practice, where a pupil is under 18, written consent will be obtained from a parent or legal guardian before an identifiable pass photograph is used for KSM promotional or social-media purposes. The young person will also be asked whether they are happy for the image to be used, and KSM will not publish the image if the young person objects. For pupils aged 18 or over, KSM will obtain the pupil’s own consent. Consent must be freely given, specific and informed, and a record will be kept. A person may withdraw consent for future use at any time. KSM will take reasonable steps to stop future use after withdrawal, although it may not be possible to remove copies already shared or reproduced by third parties. No safeguarding-sensitive or unnecessary personal information will be published with an image.
Any allegation that an instructor or person working for KSM Driving Tuition has harmed a child, may have committed an offence against a child, or may pose a risk to children must be treated seriously and referred in accordance with local safeguarding procedures. Where applicable, advice should be sought from the local authority designated officer (LADO). The business will cooperate with statutory agencies and will not conduct an internal investigation that could interfere with their enquiries.
Safeguarding records will be factual, dated and stored securely with access restricted to those who need the information. Confidentiality is important, but it is not absolute: relevant information may be shared without consent where necessary and lawful to protect a child or adult at risk. Records should include what was seen or heard, the person’s own words where possible, actions taken, referrals made and the name of the person recording the concern.
KSM Driving Tuition will take reasonable steps to ensure that people working with pupils are suitable for their role. Where a role is eligible, appropriate DBS checking will be used. Instructors should understand this policy, know how to recognise safeguarding concerns and know how to report them. Safeguarding knowledge and this policy will be reviewed periodically.
Anyone working for KSM Driving Tuition who believes safeguarding concerns are being ignored, concealed or handled improperly should raise the matter with the DSL/business owner unless that person is implicated. Where necessary, concerns should be raised with the appropriate safeguarding authority, police or other relevant body.
This policy will be reviewed at least annually, and sooner following a significant safeguarding incident, a change in legislation/guidance, or a material change to the way KSM Driving Tuition operates.
Safeguarding Concern Record – minimum information
• Date/time of concern or disclosure
• Name of pupil/person concerned
• Exactly what was seen/heard (use their own words)
• Any visible injuries or immediate risks
• Action taken and who was informed
• Date/time reported and to whom
• Name/signature of person completing record
Important: This policy is a practical template for a UK driving tuition business and should be adapted to KSM’s staffing, local authority procedures and insurer/professional-body requirements.
